Have you recently completed basic training and aren’t sure how to combine your current modalities with EMDR?
Has it been a while since you’ve used EMDR and you’re feeling a little rusty?
Are you looking to reduce fear or apprehension and gain confidence in your use of EMDR?
Do you feel “stuck” with some clients, and aren’t sure how to conceptualize what may be at the root of their difficulties?
Do aspects of the standard protocol and “go with that” approach feel inauthentic to how you practice?
I want to help you bring your own authenticity as a therapist and human, to your EMDR practice.
I am an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant as well as an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist under the ongoing mentorship of Deany Laliotis, LICSW. My approach to EMDR psychotherapy (and to consultation) is relational in nature. Relational EMDR Psychotherapy helps clients heal at a deeper level by using the therapeutic relationship to assist with repairing old attachment wounds while being held by the presence, attunement, and attention of the therapist.
This way of working with clients is more than a standard “go with that” approach that offers symptom reduction. We focus on the relationship between people, not just applying the EMDR protocol. Through consultation, you as the therapist will learn more about how you are showing up with a client, and using that to inform decision-making, to help clients come into relationship with themselves.
Relational EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach to EMDR and you can read more about it here.
Consultation Approach:
- Ensuring you know the basics well, so you can feel confident in your delivery of EMDR.
- Helping you move from rigidly following the protocol to finding the art of using this modality.
- Developing a greater understanding of what issues your clients are presenting with, so you feel confident with how to approach what your clients want to address, using an AIP framework.
- Improving your understanding of clinical choice points- to know when, why, and what you might do at different points in the therapeutic process and within reprocessing.
- Learning to tolerate the uncertainty of the therapeutic process better, so you can relax into your intuitive/ attuned sense, when working with clients.
Bottom line: I want to help you feel confident in your delivery of this modality, by bringing what makes you, YOU, to the therapeutic process.
